Headspace gauge- I ended up not using this Here is a spreadsheet with prices of tools and parts as well as links for anyone interested. Tools Needed - Note this is what I used to build from a flat and populate the barrel add all of the pieces to the barrel, space/align them correctly, drill them, then pin them to the barrel. You'll have to buy a barrel and populate it yourself i.e. Kit without the barrel- This is the way I went to save some money, adds a good bit of extra work. The barrel will have all of the necessary items pined to it (gas block, front sight, etc.) plus it's been headspaced and drilled to fit the front trunnion. Kits with the barrel finished- Again this is probably the easiest kit to go with. It's not considered a firearm until bent so it can be mailed right to you.Ĩ0% Receiver- Similar to an AR 80% receiver, it will come pre-bent but without the rails or holes so you'll need to drill out all of the receiver holes. You will need a press and jig to bend the flat into shape as well as a spot welder to attach the inner rails. With this option you can skip bending, welding, or reaming holes/heat treating. Once it's in your hands it's ready to go. Buy a receiver from someone like Childers or Nodak Spud and have it sent to an FFL. Well there are a few things you need to consider before you jump in and buy a parts kit.įor those that just want build porn, here is an album.Ĭomplete Receiver- This is probably the easiest and requires the fewest tools.
